Monica Nyaga is a champion for youth & women empowerment. She is Social Worker by profession, and she has also done several short courses related to community development. She is a graduate of Moi University and currently studying her master degree in Gender & Developmental studies at the University Of Nairobi. Monica is very passionate about empowering vulnerable community members economically, especially women, youths, and children. Throughout her life, she has participated in several youth and women empowerment initiatives. Monica strives to be a change maker and gives vulnerable communities hope for a better future. She sees both opportunities and challenges when working closely with informal settlement inhabitants and endeavors to encourage them to appreciate education and entrepreneurship as critical tools to poverty eradication.
Currently, she is a Program Manager at Canada Mathare Education Trust, founder of Community Empowerment link, and a youth mentor with Action Vijana Empowerment Program in Majengo slums. Monica believes every person, family, community, and the nation has potential; it calls for self-motivation and mentorship to unleash that potential. Education is the key to adding value and ignite this potential.
During her free time, she loves to do photography, blogging, listening to music, swimming and watching documentaries.
